Picpoul de Pinet Chateau de la Mirande

Picpoul de Pinet Chateau de la Mirande is a fresh, easy drinking white wine, ideal for shellfish and lighter foods. It is also lovely as aperitif. Picpoul is an ancient grape variety which has the sort of green tinged fruit and crisp acidity one would associate with Muscadet, but with more vinosity. Traditionally drunk with the famous 'huitres de Bouzygues', (oysters) that are harvested from the adjacent Etang de Thau. Also shellfish platter, lobster, crayfish and grilled fish go very well.

Picpoul de Pinet Chateau de la MirandeChâteau de la Mirande is located in the commune of Castelnau-de-Guers not far from the Bassin de Thau, a salt-water lagoon dedicated to the cultivation of oysters and mussels. The vineyard spreads through the Mediterranean garrigue with its thousand scents and is in part situated on slopes of red earth covered with pebbles which release the sun’s heat to perfect the maturity of Picpoul. The terroir Chateau de La Mirande is a clay-limestone mix on south-facing terraces with vines of between 30-100 years old. Traditional culture using cordon de Royat with green harvesting and organic viticulture (not certified) are at the heart of the estate's philosophy.
