Merry Christmas One And All

We are just making our last deliveries for Christmas to some very happy customers! December has been a crazy month and the little Melrose and Morgan kitchen in Chalk Farm has turned out amongst others, an incredible:

10,400 Mince Pies, 50 Truffled Tunworth, 20kg of Cranberry Sauce, 1,200 Stuffing Balls, 200 Christmas Puddings, 146 Pear and Ginger Trifles, 670 Christmas Cakes, 120 Chicken Liver and White Port Parfaits and, one Triple Bird Roast!

A pretty amazing feat of which we are very proud.

Thanks to our amazing chefs, staff and suppliers, and most of all our loyal customers and friends.

Judy’s Birds Fly In

We know Christmas is going to be alright when we see the van arrive! Today we took delivery of our Christmas turkeys and geese from the lovely Judy Goodman. We are delighted to report that they are as beautiful this year as they are every year, and we feel sure they are going to make some customers very happy this Christmas!

The good news is we can make a few more customers even happier as we have a small number of birds left over – these will go quickly from our stores, so anyone in need of a last minute turkey or goose should give us a call.

Gorgeous Gifts


Our order book may be closed, but that doesn’t mean our shelves and fridges aren’t full to bursting with delicious food and fabulous gifts to make it under your tree and into Christmas stockings.

We don’t discriminate at Melrose and Morgan, and that’s why we firmly believe that stockings aren’t just for kids. In fact we think that stockings are a pleasure that should never be given up, so we’ve devised some ‘grown up’ stocking filler ideas to tempt even the most stocking-shy; our Cranberry, Orange and Shallot Chutney and Spiced Nuts kilner, delicious Pandora Bell Pistachio Nougat and Antonio Mattei Biscotti.

If the presents under your tree are looking a bit sparse and serious foodies are coming to stay, then we’ve got plenty to keep them happy; Madame Oiseau Rose Batons are an elegant treat, Falconware Pie and Baking Kits and Thornback and Peel food illustrated napkins will make sure they look the part in the kitchen, and the gorgeous Penguin Great Food Series will keep them genned up on their food knowledge.

Our delicious local Highgate Sacred Gin or a bottle of Pedro Ximenez would certainly give the man in your life something to smile about on Christmas Day, then we’ve got Moleskine Recipe Journals, our Dark Chocolate Florentines and the wonderful Vestal Amber liqueur for the ladies.

Kids stocking presents won’t go wanting either with Scarlet Bakes Cookie Baking Kits and Madame Oiseau and Rococo chocolate shapes.

Our Mince Pies Get a Major Thumbs Up!

Our little mince pies have just been given a major thumbs up by the MSN Food team who rated them second (by only one point!) in a blind tasting of ten mince pie competitors. We are all hugely excited and the mince pies are already flying out of the door!

The Christmas Kitchen in Overdrive

We can’t believe how delicious (not to mention extremely pretty) the food coming out of our Christmas kitchen is this year. We’ve been addicted to snapping everything as it get made and before it heads out to the shops, and here is some of the evidence.

Our desserts are looking particularly gorgeous with the Cranberry and Orange Cheesecakes making a stunning snow-topped display. Valrhona and Grand Marnier Chocolate Mousse – the best ingredients put together simply can sometimes be all you need. Then there are our dinky little Christmas Brioche with festive fruit and spices – a lovely, if rather indulgent, way to start the morning (go on it’s Christmas!).

Not to leave out our savoury offer, we were so excited when we saw the first of our Chicken Liver and White Port Parfait coming through – a seriously good way to begin your Christmas Day feasting and an instant starter for the big day. And if you are looking for the perfect accompaniment to your Judy Goodman turkey, then you need look no further than our Cranberry Port and Orange Sauce, captured ‘in the making’ in glorious technicolour here.
